TED pt I - Ideas worth Spreading?

1) What is the TED organization about?
the TED organization is spreading non-profit ideas that are worth spreading. 
2) What is the purpose of their website and how does the functionality of their site support that?
the purpose of there website is to briing people from Technology, Design, and Entertainment togeather to all form ideas.
3) As Engineers and Problem Solvers, which topic areas (the choices from the "Show talks related to:" section on the sidebar) are of most interest to us? Justify your answer.
design/math
1. if your an engineer you are doing a lot designing when build and putting together you projects. 
2. design is part of the 12 step design process
3. when brainstorming before a project you are designing it.
4. you use math in engineering when you are trying to find the measurements of you object, and when you are building your object you need to have precise calculations. 
4) Based on your previous answer, what are 3 talks (videos) on the site that appear like they would be of most interest to you as an Engineer/Problem Solver? Justify your choices.
 Video: Arvind Gupta: Turning trash into toys for learning.
this video is about how Arvind Gupta is finding ordinary trash items and turning them into toys for little children. the toys are well designed toys that can build themselves.
Video: Cynthia Breazeal: The rise of personal objects
this video is about Cynthia Breazeal and how she wondered why robots were in space but not in our living rooms. she tought robots to interact with people so children can teach, learn, and play with the robots.
Video: Handspring Puppet Co.: The genius puppetry behind War Horse
this video is about how Kohler and Basil Jones and how the created a puppet named Joey the War horse and he is very life like. he trotted/galloped onto the TED stage during one of there talks.

  • Ueli Gegenschatz wants to set a world record for flying off a cliff and flying the most distance and having the most hang time.
  • he also wants to make a jump that has never been done before.
  • he wants to make it so instead of landing with a parachute he wants to land with the wing suit, bu hes working on trying to make a landing with the wing suit.

6) How could you get involved in the field/technology/issue you chose to hear about? What experience/skills/training/education would you need to learn to get involved with this field?
i can get into the field by getting a degree in science and studying the physics of flying. i would need to be comfortable while up high in the air and you have to be a master at skydiving before going wing suit diving.
