Reverse Engineering: Mechanicnal Product - Functional Analysis

1. What is the purpose or primary function of the object?
the purpose/primary function of this object is to be able to access any work that you have, or to explore whats going on in the Internet.
2. Make an educated guess as to how this product operates. Use simple machines’ terminology to explain the object’s sequential operation.
i think this product operates by all of the battery's and wires inside the machine.
3. Identify the system inputs, intended product function, and outputs. Use power point to create a "black box" graphic like the toothbrush example discussed in class. Save the slide as a .jpg image and post it to answer this question.
( this answer is at the top of the blog post)
4. What mechanical components are visible?
the mechanical components that are visible are the switches the control the power of the machine and the speaker switches.
5. What is it about this device’s function that you cannot identify, because the mechanical components are hidden from plain view? i cant identify the cords and platforms that actually make the machine run because they are inside the machine make it usable.

Q- What is a field/hobby/something you have a passion for (surfing, sailing, robotics, painting, etc.)?
one of my favorite hobbies is baseball. i have been playing baseball since i was in 1st grade and been on many different ball teams. i am currently playing on the freshman team for our high school. i plan on making some type of future out of that hobby.  Q- What person or organization in that field has used blogging to promote their brand?
the mlb (major league baseball) uses blogging all over the Internet, to try and get sponsors and to get people to watch it.
Q- What is a field you might see yourself blogging about?

if i were to blog about a field i think it would definitely be about something related to baseball, just because i have a passion for it. like i said i have played baseball my whole life and can definitely blog about it, probably pretty easily to.

Blog Assignment: Survival At Sea Game

  • Intro: A brief summary of the activity.
in this activity we got the survival at sea handout and had to independently order the items on the handout1-20 based on what you thought was the most important and least important if you were stuck at sea on a raft. once we all finished doing the assignment independently we got into groups, and then as a group we had to discuss what we all got a make one final copy of the items. after we did that we sat in our groups and Mr. Olsen showed us the real answers and we compared our individual and group answers to the real answers.
  • Personal Prioritization: List your prioritization of the items. Share your reasoning on your top 2 picks and your bottom choice. Were there any items you had a hard time choosing a ranking for?
my groups top two picks were the rations kit because you would need food, and the gallons of water so you wouldn't get dehydrated and die. our bottom two picks were oil and fish line. our group actually didn't have that tough of a time deciding on our picks.
  • Team Prioritization: What priority did your team agree on? Talk about an item the group ranked similarly to you. What was something the group ranked far differently than you? What was something you and the group ranked similarly? How did your group work together?
my groups priority was to keep surviving. my groups top two picks were the same exact top two picks that i had listed. my group and i ranked differently when i choose oil and fish line in the middle  of my list and they all had those items listed on the bottom of there list. we worked together by just talking about each item for a couple of minutes and really thinking where that item would fit best.
  • Expert Prioritization: How did your choices compare to the "official" Coastguard choices? Were there any big surprises between the two? What do you put more weight in, expert opinion or experiential data? Why?
our choices differed a lot from the coastguards choices but there were a few items that we had in the same range. yes, there were some very big suprises from ours to theres, a couple of our top picks were at the bottom of the coastguards lists, our picks were just very uneven and not on the same track. i would put more weight on the coastguards opinion because they are the experts in the ocean and they have studied alot about that environment to get to that job and i think they have a real good idea on what they are talking about.

Blog Assignment: Tennis Ball Team Building Game

  • What was the challenge (list criteria and constraints)?
the challenge in this activity was to see what group got the tennis ball around the circle the fastest and to see what strategy you would use.
  • What plan did your team come up with to solve the challenge?
our teams plan was to cup all of our hands in a diagonal line going down so the ball would at least touch all of our hands and would go fast since our hands were in a line going straight down.
  • How did the execution of your plan work out?
our teams plan worked out really well and my group actually won the contest. i think it worked out well because with our strategy our hands were in a line going like straight down and it went really fast, i also predicted that the end result would turn out the way it did.
  • What would you do the same?
i would keep the strategy we used the same, like i said we won the contest and our group came amongst a very clever idea.
  • What would you do differently?
i honestly don't think i would do anything at all to my groups final decision on our strategy.
